One Billion Page Views

This guy called AJ is trying to get a billion page views on his site for a thousand pound bet! worth a click... im not sure if he can do it though, there are only 6 billion people on the planet!

I found him on Yahoo News:

He says on the interview with Yahoo:
"ThePixelWebsite.com grew from nothing to 200,000 hits in the first week of being online, over a game of snooker, I just happened to be boasting about it to my friends, which later turned into a debate on how websites work and how to promote them... one of them challenged me, and I love a good challenge, they bet me and said they would gladly give me £ 1000 if I could make a site that gets One Billion Hits! There was one major clause, I cannot spend a penny in marketing the website, just me, my laptop and nothing else. We all know I could simply put a refresh tag in and leave my laptop on for a month. so I told him I would get 1 billion unique hits just to prove it can be done."

Well I don't think it will take ages. As the main aim of that website is hits, he might achieve his goal. There was a project where a man sold his 100x100 pixels site space for advertisers with one pixel costing $100. And his goal was to earn $1000,000. I don't know if he earned this sum, but he was successful enough. Maybe this site will be successful too.

He stole the idea from http://www.onebillionviews.com ( Aussie who bet his friends 20 cartons of beer ( 1000 bux worth ) ) that his site will make it.

There is even a yahoo news story which outlines the copycats and this original.

Thanks, Dave, for bringing this out! Well it ain't new thing to copy good ideas. I remember there was a man who sold pixels on his site for advertisers and earned huge money. Guess what - couple weeks ago I see absolutely same idea in my language - some "genius" from Lithuania stole the idea... As I say, great ideas are always copied... Bad...

If he could get 1 billion page views the bet wouldn’t matter he’d be filthy rich from all the advertising on the site. If the site averaged $5 per 1000 page views, multiply that by a million to get a billion. That’s $5,000,000
