Stuck in evolution progress...

Guys, I started (after years) playing NFS Porsche Unleashed again and this time I decided no more cheats (not even money ones) and I go from scratch. Of course upgrading the NFS PU first to v3.5 enhanced, patching the windows so they are transparent even when damaged and then running the game under Windows 2000 SP4 with no problemo - except for the nVidia trashed fonts, but that is a separate problem...

During the evolution, I managed to win the Spyder, but I failed with Mobby Dick racing car. I had the savegame saved before, so when I screw up the race, I thought it let me race again, but wrong...
(and then I did not have enough money to buy Moby Dick, and before I got them, it is out of the garage now?!)

So, that is why I did not... However now I'm in Modern Era and from the tournaments I have made the Class 3, Class 2 ... but the Class 1 says my car is not good. They did not specifically mention it, but I think they are mean some more recent car (or GT1?) - but in new cars, there is nothing more recent that 911 Turbo Carrera 4, witch is surprisingly slower that the 911 Turbo 3.6 ... Anyway, what car are need there?
And where to get it?

I can not tell you exactly about your problem with evolution as for the moment I don't have Porsche Unleashed installed, but as far as I remember, you have to buy a new car there.

911 Turbo 3.6 (is it brown one by default?) runs fast, but has terrible handling. While the new car which probably is 911 Turbo Carrera 4 (should be red by default?) is definitely slower but has better handling characteristics.

Yep, it partly fix the issue, however there is severe performance penalty AND I did not like AA at all. Not a solution. Still looking for dx7z.dll from NFS MCO and another solutions is probably to patch the existing dx7z.dll or nVidia drivers to disable this "feature" ...

That is what I thought too. However I already own, from the last line of cars, these:
'93, 911 Turbo 3.6 Coupe (964)
'96, 911 Carrera 4S Coupe (993)
'96, 911 Carrera Coupe (993)
...and still cannot enter the new race :-s

The race title also say something about racing cars...
Another two (only there last races I did not completed) are for Boxsters (not have one, can't buy one), 911 Turbo (no way to enter, Turbo 2000 only) and some anniversary 911 non-turbos only (also never find a car that this race likes) ...


911 Turbo 3.6 (is it brown one by default?) runs fast, but has terrible handling.

True, it can punch a little over 250km/h on straight road, however it is almost too fast to handle under most scenarios. However since you can tweak the car, it can be made enjoayble to drive on. Not as nice as some of the old 911 (911 S Coupe from Classis era for example) but very well controlable.
On the other hand, the worsest for me is the Factory driver - where I can't tweak my cars, till I'm satisfacted with them. 964 is definitively hard to setup, but then a pretty nice car. Only don't crash and restart in any sort of turn - it spin so fast :DD

Two more very annoying points for me:
1) no Moby Dick - crash bad in the race, restart Porsche with the saved game but no chance to run this race again - damn! I wish I have the chance again, but... Probably need some "mission selector" cheat, huh?
(trying to look into used cars, having spare 2.000.000, but no-no...)
2) no Boxster - during the moving on in the Factory driver storyline I wind a Porsche Boxster car. First they give me Carrera 2.7 RS with interesting paint, then Boxster - but thre was the catch - no Boxster in my garage!!!

I can select it and play with it in the Single Player game... yep, it is mine with all the colors and stuff, but not in Evolution mode. Suxx. No idea why. They said something about "if you prove yourself worthy" ... but it is very hard in the Factory driver.
I get very far, tough. Already passed a mission with GT1 on skipad and few more and then I'm a bit stuck in skipad missing "filming Porsche commercial" where I should use only manual shifting (ugh) and need to do twice 180° spins and one 360°... Oh, well... :-s

BTW, as a nice show how can I tune and handle the 911 Turbo 3.6 (964) Porsche model, there you see me go thru Corsica in 2:28.28 ;)

And that time can be beated easily, I made many silly mistakes driving this kinda powerfull car. Yea, she IS a biatch to handle, but I like the challenge :DD

Todays I was passing by a large truck in real life and just happens in the curve, at about 120km/h (75mph) my BMW meet a "tongue" from ice on the road. It was a short yet nicely handled slide - sadly nowhere near anything like in the above NFS PU Corsica drive. Mainly because the huge differences between asphalt and icey asphalt did not allow smooth movements and especially passes beween icey and not icey asphalt are rough :DD

Not bad, huh? I wonder if I can score better with more recent cars, when I manage (finally!) to unlock them :( Normandy is tricky as hell, as the car fly too many times, lol.


PS. Found the damn car that is Class 1 in the new cars in garage! All others are Class 2, but this one... is Class 1!

I've got to find my Porsche Unleashed CD :rally: After your posts I want to load evolution once again after several years :)
