    Smile Networking tips

    Hy to all, i start this thread to post some networking tips, i start with:

    How to accelerate yout PPPoE connection
    1. Find the connection on the Windows Explorer
    2. Right click ---> Properties
    3. Uncheck everything unless Tcp/Ip
    4. Reboot
    5. Enjoy a faster PPPoE connection to the internet

    Note: don't make this if you're sharing Files/printers in your network

    Note2: This improves speed and security by removing the hazardous network shares that can be used to hack a computer trough NetBIOS (Old protocol, not supported, not needed for anything, and not safe)

    Default Computers

    The control unit (often called a control system or central controller) directs the various components of a computer. It reads and interprets (decodes) instructions in the program one by one. The control system decodes each instruction and turns it into a series of control signals that operate the other parts of the computer.

    hello, im new at networking, and am soon going to have a home network in my office between two computers w/ dsl. Configuration is a linksys wireless router and a westell dsl modem. Questions I have are:

    1)How is connecting to the internet going to work? I mean, you have to dial up for dsl, so is one computer going to have to be used for dialing up (i know it stays active until shut down, so it would have to be up all the time) or can I set it up for both computers to dial up?

    2)do i have to install verizon's and the router's software on both computers?

    Please give me guidelines. Thanks
