My cd has a crack in the center.

i have bought this game(NFS PU) along with a few others at Fry's a few years ago on CD's.
I have most CDs if good condition now but the one for the game NFS PU has formed a tiny crack in the center,and sadly my cd drive refuses to read it.
It has no fingerprints whatsoever,only a small crack in the center of the cd.
is there any way of me recovering this cd and maybe burn it to a new CD so i can continue playing?
Is there any place that may have the exact copy of my cd in some sort of disk image?

hello, i have some knowledge/history with disk cracks.

to my knowledge, if there is an actual crack that goes through all the way, i believe there is no way to recover information. but thats as far as i can say.

a few years back i had this fun japanese game for my xbox 360 called earth defense force 2017. it was quite fun. after possibly a day of gameplay(not all at once of course), the disc(which was cheap 40 bucks and from japan) shattered and a burn mark appeared from the center outward about an inch. it will not run...

and i do not want to risk fragments ending up where they don't need to be.

but thats what i know. i'm very sorry if it ends up not running.

but i'm sure you can find another copy somewhere. perhaps someone here can help

I also have several CDs with cracks in the middle but they do run. If CD data and reflection layers are not damaged, CD should be read. Despite that one my friend had an accident with such cracked disc - it simply broke into pieces while running in CD-ROM.

If a crack is small, try to find a PC with slower CD-ROM - the one having less "x" (e. g. maybe at school or university, if they have classes with older PCs).

When you succeed, make disc image using Alcohol 120% or similar software.

no,the crack is too big
its about 1 inch long down the cd

but i'm sure you can find another copy somewhere. perhaps someone here can help

or you could just copy and paste into a zip and upload it somewhere
i really like this game,and i don't want to go digging through some torrent warez site again,(last time i rendered my computer useless with all of the viruses i cought)

You see, making an image of a disc and publishing it can be considered as illegal action. I think you could try to find it on peer-to-peer networks, torrent exchangers, etc. As you have the original (doesn't matter it's damaged) game, I see no problem downloading working image from the internet.

Porsche Unleashed should still be available on eDonkey networks. More complicated is to find any other parts of NFS. One my friend was verry surprised when he found Need for Speed (1st part)

When i said 'care for a story' i meant mine. You said your disc has a crack an inch long...

Kelmas knows pretty much everything (lol) so you're well off doing some things he suggested.

He also said to run the disc in an older pc. that is probably what i could've done with my crap-jap disc, but it cracked inside my xbox and burned a bit.
